Reflection

Sorry it's kinda late. I was away all holidays. Term 1 was alright. Thankfully it went quite fast. Our first term of being year 10s was actually different than I thought it would be. I found it to be quite similar to year 9 although we are a lot more settled in now than we were last year. Some things are still quite repetitive like doing reflections but it’s quite fun having more options and knowing how the school works. I think some of my favourite things this term were having Jordan from Attitude come in and talk to us again. He’s really funny and we get to miss class which is always good. Also I’m really enjoying enterprise. It’s different to any other class and I enjoy the work. Something I don’t really like is Spanish. I chose it for my option because I was good at it last year but I have found that this year it is really boring and repetitive. I find it hard to pay attention and I would of rather done something like Graphics. This year has also been interesting because we have a new tutor teacher and classroom. At first the new teacher wasn’t too popular because she wouldn’t let us have phones or iPods out but I think we are getting used to her. Also we won the Athletics day at the start of the term which everyone in Auaha was quite pleased about including our new Whanau leader, Mr Richardson. Overall it has been a good term and I am looking forward to a good year at A.C.

Sweet Little Lies Book Review

The book I'm currently reading is called Sweet Little Lies by reality show star Lauren Conrad. Although I have not finished the book I am currently enjoying it and eager for more. The book is the second of the series and is about 2 girls that have moved to Los Angeles and are on a reality show called L.A Candy.
It isn't an extremely long book but it's still quite interesting and so far a good read.

In the book the main characters are Jane Roberts and Scarlett Harp and it shows the readers that fame isn't always fun and there are consequences. Especially when nothing stays secret for long. It explains in detail what reality shows are really like. Lauren Conrad, once the star of popular Tv show 'The Hills', is now one of the New York Times bestselling authors and she does a great job writing this entertaining novel about Hollywood. Sweet Little Lies is the second book so if you are interested you will want to firstly read L.A Candy- the first book of the series. I am yet to read the final book (Sugar and Spice) but it will no doubt but just as great as the first 2.

Even though this book involves drinking, drug use, sexual references, backstabbing friends and swearing I still think it is a good book to read. It mostly appeals to teenage girls maybe even younger. For some it may not be appropriate but if you look past those things it does teach some good lessons. It is a guilty pleasure book that is full of fun details and scandalous drama. I think it is a worthwhile book to read.
Rating 4/5 :)

Kony

So if you're on Facebook then you will probably know who Joseph Kony is and why he is all of a sudden famous. For those who don't know, Kony is the leader of guerrilla group the LRA or Lord's Resistance Army. He says he is the spokesperson of God. He also believes in Polygamy and is said to have had over 80 wives. Initially the group had lots of support but then the LRA turned on the supporters and attempted to make Uganda into a theocracy. Kony abducts children and turns them into child soldiers and sex slaves. The LRA has about 66,000 child soldiers now. The LRA operates in Uganda, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. Because of his crimes he is first on the International Criminal Court's list of the world's worst criminals.

Until a short time ago few people had even heard of Kony. A video called 'Kony 2012' made by Invisible Children Inc. was put on the internet on March 12th and went viral. It now has over 74 million views. The video informed everyone on who Kony is and the terrible things he does. Invisible Children Inc. sell action packs, bracelets and posters to bring awareness to Kony and help him known so he can be arrested. Also many celebrities have become involved with the campaign. Because no one knows who he is the American government don't think he is worth looking for.

Even though everyone has only just heard about Kony he has been around since 1986. Since then around 2 million people have been internally displaced. Kony has many times proposed peace and then attacked again to maintain his power. The LRA is constantly getting bigger. Because of 9/11 the American government consider the LRA a terrorist group. Kony is very religious and says he is fighting for the Ten Commandments. He thinks he is doing good while others consider him to be the devil. Because of the Kony 2012 video there is now a higher chance of him being arrested for all of crimes.

My holidays

My holidays were really fun. I mostly did things with my friends as well as going to cheerleading trainings and going to Papamoa. Since we were stopping cheerleading practice for the Christmas break we decided to all go to the beach for an end of year thing. We went biscuiting and on the boat. It was really fun. After having an awesome Christmas, my family and friend's family went to Papamoa for a holiday. The weather was really good and we went swimming and tanning a lot. Surprisingly I never got sunburnt.

After I got back I spent the rest of the holidays with my mates. We did lots of fun things like swimming, taking photos, going shopping, relaxing, movies and sleepovers. After lots of late nights and sleeping all day, we had cheerleading trials. It was quite strange training again after a lot of relaxing but I got into the cheer team I was hoping to get in. We are now practising our routine for when we compete in Hawaii. I also went to Splurge, laser tag, the beach and more. My holidays were amazing :)
